First Round (2006)

The performance was created during a study stay in Indonesia. Inspired by, for me, a new and exotic culture, I created this performance based on the initiation rituals, which are common in the everyday life of this country, and are performed in certain annual or life cycles and situations. Performance elements: engine, roses, black rice (katan hitam - used in Indonesian rituals as a binding agent) instinctively are placed in interactive relationship that produces a series of unexpected symbols that, in relation to the symbols of my other works, build intriguing connections, interesting to follow.
