On the trace of high modernism, Ivana Stojakovic creates powerfully constructed geometrical drawings. Devoted to the material, her drawings achieve a baroque harmony of dark and light, full and empty, in front and behind create an impression of richness. The works consist mainly of multiplied, arranged lines and dark colors. A light trace of chalk makes a nontransparent but complex surface of deep tones. In some cases the lighter background is traped by a net of lines. It is being intervened a lot on the paper, which partly appears beneath the lines. Contrasts are not only achieved by light, but also by colors. Observing these drawings, one focuses on fragments of urban life, that are usually unnoticed, though permanently noted in our sub consciousns. Ljubica Jelisavac - art critic
